Thanksgiving celebration after fire at Beit ShneersonThumbnails

Early one afternoon, a few weeks ago, a fire broke out in the stairwell of Beit Shneerson, a residential building next to Beit Hadassah. Fortunately, thank G-d, no one was injured.
The fire started in a plastic container outside the apartment of Rabbi Shalom and Zelda Horowitz, who weren’t home at the time. According to Rabbi Horowitz, fire inspectors who visited the site, were not able to determine the cause of the blaze. But what was ascertained was that a true miracle occurred, because at the bottom of the closet was a cardboard box containing, paint, turpentine and other very flammable liquids. The entire closet was burned and destroyed, except that box and its contents, which remained untouched.
When the fire broke out several men tried to climb the stairs, but due to the smoke billowing out, were unable to reach the source of the fire. However, several Israeli soldiers serving in the area, without any second thoughts, ran inside to check for people trapped by the flames. One was able to extinguish the fire and checking in the apartments, assisted a resident outside. He was later treated for smoke inhalation. Other soldiers evacuated a children’s daycare center adjacent to the inferno.
A few nights ago families from the building and neighborhood, together with other Hebron residents celebrated the miracle at the park across the street. Of course, the guests of honor were the four heroic soldiers who risked their lives for the children and adults in the building. Each one was awarded a certificate in gratitude for their bravery.
Speakers included Noam Arnon, Rabbi Horowitz and Rabbi Danny Hizmi, who was also present at the time of the fire.
All those attending enjoyed a festive meal together with the soldiers, giving thanks to G-d that no one was hurt.
